Martin poised to preserve more than 9,000 acres with environmental sales-tax funds

Martin County commissioners are set to vote on conserving more than 9,300 acres across 16 properties, following a recommendation from the Environmental Lands Oversight Committee. Funded by a voter-approved half-percent sales tax expected to generate up to $183 million over 10 years, the program would permanently protect environmentally sensitive lands through purchases or conservation easements.
